After signing up over a year ago, its hard to believe that this time next week I will be getting ready to move my whole life over to Thailand for a year.
The last few months have consisted of much MUCH preperation, doing a distance TEFL course, and swatting up on all things Thai… and now I am good to go!!! Once I have my TEFL certificate I will be qualified to teach English all over the world…who knows where I might end up!
So I might not have even left the UK yet however I do already know my where abouts for the first month/the following 6months… some where before Phrae is also a ‘Visa Run’ to Laos!
April 20th> Glasgow-London, London-Mumbi, Mumbi- Bangkok
April 21st-23rd> Bangkok, staying at Hi Sukhumvit
April 23rd-one week> The Island of Koh Chang, practical teaching
May 2nd-one week> Back to Bangkok for a Thai culture course, now compulsory for all teacher’s going over to Thailand.
May-Sept- Phrae Province
So as I said I know where I will be for my first term! I will be in northern Thailand in a province called Phrae famous for its woodcarving, and for producing the deep-blue, baggy working shirts seen all over Thailand. Its surrounded by mountains and is full of amazing temples (Literally FULL of them!) So I will have plently to keep me occupied!
Whilst in Phrae I will be working in Wat Methungkarawat Primary School. There are about 1500 students and class sizes are 40-45 *gulp* the school does however have air con (Whoop!) AND will also be paying for my accomodation which is only a 10min walk away from the school! (Result!)
So as the deadline is comming and the nerves setting in I thought it would be nice to share my experience abroad as for many I dont know when I will see you next!! 😥
Although I would like to say… Thank you for all the support everyone has given me to make this a reality!
