Adjusting to life in Australia after a year in Thailand has actually been much easier than I expected.
Touching down at the airport I wasn’t sure what to expect but had the nicest greeting (and flowers) from Andy’s family.
The first week was all a bit of a blur between moving into a house, getting a car, getting my bearings and learning to drive again! We hardly had a chance to see anywhere!
We finally managed a trip down to our local beach and Finally it felt like Australia!!! The beach was awesome and I’m sure this will become my weekend retreat!!
The job search has began although I’m not quite sure what to do…. I think my skills of an English language teacher are a bit useless here!!
Everyone is lovely and its actually not too different from home! (Appart from the sun obviously!!)
One thing that has stood out is the public transport… Something just about every Australian I’ve met has complained about…. If only they had tried Scotrail!!!
The best example is my commute to town. Bishopbriggs to Glasgow Queen Street. 1 stop, 7 minutes (never on time) and costs 3.05/3.95 pound ($4.75/$6.02)
now my commute into Perth… 11 stops, 25minutes (is at the station bang on time) and is $3.80 (2.40 pound)
I think Andy found my joy at taking the train all a bit weird “but all the crazies ride the train!”- umm have u been on a Glasgow train?? … But for anyone who has taken the train back home I’m sure they would be the same!!
So with not much else happening bar dinner parties, movies and drinks there’s not much else to say until the job search pays off!
However if anyone can find the YouTube link to the UK advert “There’s nothing like AUSTRALIA!!! Please post a link (no internet) Can’t belive they have not seen it here!!!!
